‘How will you manage studies?’: Mumbai Indian teen gets tough questions from mom, and his answers go viral

Mumbai Indians have roped in 17-year-old South African pacer Kwena Maphaka as a replacement for Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Madhushankar, who was acquired by MI for Rs 46 crore, suffered a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s second ODI against Bangladesh earlier this month. Mafaka, meanwhile, will link up with fellow South African and University of Michigan head coach Mark Boucher. The 17-year-old caught everyone’s attention at this year’s home U19 World Cup, where he snatched 21 wickets at an average of 9.71.

Mapaka arrived at MI’s team hotel in Mumbai but was startled by a tough question from his mother.

In a video posted by MI, an administrator raised a question on behalf of Mapaka’s mother, who asked how he would manage his studies.

In response to the question, the 17-year-old went on to say that he can pull it off.

“Yes, it’s definitely going to be a tough time. But it’s going to take a lot of extra lessons and a lot of hard work,” he said in the video.

On becoming MI’s latest acquisition, Maphaka added: “It feels really good. It’s definitely something unexpected. But I’m really happy to be here. It’s a beautiful city.”

Mafaka’s mother also expressed excitement about the 17-year-old joining the team.

“It’s an honor. We are very lucky to have Quina as part of the Mumbai Indians family and I hope he blends in and is welcomed,” she said in the video.

MI said in the media: “Mafaka already has the ability to advance quickly and has a very good bouncer who can speed up the batsmen. He made his debut for the South Africa U19 team at the age of 15 and has already played Participated in two U19 World Cups.” released.

“He can reach speeds of 140km/h, his death bowling and yorking were also outstanding at the U19 World Cup earlier this year.

“He will share a dressing room with two of the best bowlers in world cricket – bowling coach Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah. Let him go On the path of learning, developing and consolidating knowledge.” On March 24, MI, led by new captain Hardik Pandya, took on last season’s runners-up Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad team (Gujarat Titans) to play the opening match of IPL 2024.
