If you are an avid reader in the technological age, you will definitely choose your smartphone for reading. You can read anywhere, whether on a plane, relaxing at home, or even when you’re bored in the office. However, not every website is designed to give you a pleasant reading experience. For a clean, distraction-free reading experience, enable Reading Mode on your Android phone, which removes ads and displays text in a well-formatted way.

Reading Mode allows users to personalize their screen reading experience on Android smartphones. Not only that, one can also modify the contrast, color, and font size of the text without affecting the content. Furthermore, users can also use reading tools to listen to the content.

How to use reading mode?

Follow these simple steps for a seamless reading experience on your smartphone:

– On your Android smartphone, launch the Google Play Store app.

– Type “reading mode” on the search bar.

– Select reading mode application. Click to install.

– Open reading mode application.

– Follow the steps in the tutorial.

You will be redirected to the Accessibility Settings menu.

Select reading mode.

Open the reading mode shortcut. A prompt appears.

Click Allow to enable reading mode permissions.

You have to remember that to use this special reading mode, the device must be running Android 9 or higher. This feature is currently only available on Android phones. Make sure to download the latest version of Reading Mode. The app updates automatically based on your Android Play Store settings; however, users can manually check for updates on the Google Play Store.

Reading mode can be used for websites or applications that contain long articles. To turn on reading mode, tap the floating button or any other shortcut assigned to the application by the user. However, the feature currently doesn’t work with PDF files, emails, chat messages, or social media feeds.

Moving on, if Reading Mode isn’t able to speak content (one of the highlights of this app), make sure your device has the latest version of Google Voice installed. If not, users can upgrade or install the latest voice service through Google Play.
