Queen Elizabeth is believed to have had a gut feeling that her 96th birthday would be her last.
wrote in his book Elizabeth: an intimate portraitRoyal expert Gyles Brandreth said the late monarch went on a nostalgia trip ahead of his 96th birthday.
She celebrated her last birthday on 21 April 2022 at Sandrigham Estate, Norfolk, where she lived at Woodhill Farm.
Brandreth noted that the late queen “didn’t mind looking back” on the final stages of her life, writing: “Earlier this year (2022) she took the time to look back in a personal way, sitting there Watching the reels of old ‘home’ she and her parents made over the years. “
She also recorded commentary for television documentaries Elizabeth: The Invisible Queenwhich will be released in June on her silver jubilee, in which she showcases never-before-seen home movies from the company.
“She recorded the narration to accompany the home movie on May 19, 2022, just one month after her 96th birthday,” the author explains.
Mr Brandreth added that he believed she knew her 96th birthday “could be her last”.
