The casualties are Attack at Bondi Junction shopping center in Sydney The figure could have been higher but for a brave and resourceful female police officer who single-handedly confronted the knifeman and killed him. A large-scale stabbing incident occurred in Westfield, leaving six people dead and many injured.

After an attacker went on a rampage inside a mall, stabbing shoppers including a nine-month-old baby, policewomen decided to tackle him alone.

According to the Australian News Network, as panicked shoppers rushed to the exits, the female police officer wearing an Australian rugby union jersey followed the attacker and shot him in the chest, killing him.

One witness said police calmly handled the situation and asked the attacker to drop the knife. However, the attacker stabbed the police officer before being shot dead.

Cafe owner Michael Dunkley told news.com.au: “She was put in a position where she had to do it. She did it so calmly. She was fantastic.”

Meanwhile, social media is awash with videos of local residents throwing tables and chairs at the knifeman to knock him down. Another video shows a man wrestling with a bollard.

A man wearing a white T-shirt tried to stop the attacker from ascending the escalator.

Stinging incidents like this are rare in Australia. In 2019, a mass shooting occurred in Darwin, northern Australia, leaving about four people dead and one injured.
