Srinagar, August 7, KDC: Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture Production, Shailendra Kumar, has been honored for promoting geophysical science and technology in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment and visionary guidance with the prestigious National Geospatial Leadership Award 2025, especially through effective implementation and expansion of overall agricultural development.
The award was presented to today’s Principal Secretary at a function, which was part of the National Geosal Awards 2025 (version 02), a major initiative of the Fosi GIS Project, a major initiative, IIT (NMECT), Ministry of Education, was organized by IIT Bombay under the aegis of National Mission on education through the government.
Felicitation was organized by Mohammad Qasim Khan M, National Coordinator Fosi GIS (NMEICT), IIT Bombay and Organizing Secretary along with Professor Penon Chinnasamy, co-cum-disciplinary investigator, fosy, IIT Bombay and the co-Empire of the awards.
The award accepted Kumar’s important role in adopting geophysical equipment and open-source GIS technologies in the agricultural sector of Jammu and Kashmir, aligning the objectives of the National Geospatial Policy 2022 and the Indian Space Policy 2023.
His instrumental support in integrating geopolitical solutions in HATP has not only improved data-operated decision making, but has also increased transparency, efficiency and resource adaptation in the agricultural-governance structure.
This year’s National Geosal Awards recognized about 100 reputed personalities in India, including 10 IAS officers in India, 1 armed forces officers, 5 prestigious scientists of ISRO, 5 Vice Chancellor and more than 60 senior faculty members of Premier Institutions, for their remarkable contribution to geophysical ecosystem in India.
The event was created by a core event team, including Professor Kannan Maudgalya, prominent investigator, fose (convenor); Professor Penon Chinnasamy, Cum-PI, Fosy (Co-Conservator); Mohammad Qasim Khan M (Organizing Secretary) and Madhulika Goyal, Senior Manager, Fosi (Award Coordinator).
In particular, during the incident it was also discovered that IIT Bombay is incorporating more than 1,000 inches from across the country, with 100 internship opportunities to increase the skit-kasht students under the Fosy GIS initiative, aimed at making skills to the youth in advanced geopolitical technologies and prepare them for future employment challenges.
Last year, this institution is the result of the MoU signed by the Agricultural University.
Principal Secretary, APD thanked the faculty members who came to the administration and the part of the university for this unique occasion for their students.
It is also worth noting here that tireless efforts to showcase commitment to innovation, capacity building and technical empowerment in agriculture have earned this department praise and national recognition for many forwarded initiatives in the last few years. (KDC)
