In an exciting development for Indian car enthusiasts, Honda unveiled its highly anticipated Elevate SUV today. This marks the first of five SUVs that Honda plans to launch in the Indian market by 2030. Bookings for the Elevate will commence next month, with the official launch scheduled ahead of the festive season. Let’s dive into the details of this exciting new model.

The Honda Elevate is expected to be competitively priced in the midsize SUV segment, offering great value for money. The exact price will be revealed during the festive season this year. However, the bookings of the SUV will commence in July 2023.

Honda Elevate: Features

The Honda Elevate offers a host of features that enhance comfort, convenience, and safety for both the driver and passengers. The spacious and well-designed interior provides ample legroom and headroom, ensuring a comfortable ride even on long journeys. Having said that, the SUV comes equipped with a plethora of modern features such as 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone integration, Automatic Climate Control, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster,  Rear View Camera, and Premium Sound System. The ‘Honda Connect’ connected car technology is also available and includes functions like Remote Engine Start and Geo Fencing.

In terms of safety features, the Honda Elevate comes equipped with cutting-edge Honda ADAS technology that further consist of several advanced features. These include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System, Auto High Beam, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lead Car Departure Notification.

Besides these, the SUV also boasts features like Lane Watch, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, Rear Parking Sensor and Emergency Stop Signal.

Honda Elevate: Engine Specifications

Under the hood, the Honda Elevate houses a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine that churns out a top power of 119 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 4300 rpm. Transmission duty will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. Furthermore, the motor will be RDE compliant and E20 fuel ready.

Honda Elevate: Rivals

The Honda Elevate will have tough competiton in the mid-size SUV market.  Rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have already made a mark in the market with their impressive offerings. However, Honda’s reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction gives the Elevate an edge over its competitors. With its unique design, advanced features, and strong brand presence, the Elevate aims to carve a niche for itself in the SUV market.

Honda’s foray into the midsize SUV market comes at a time when the Indian market is being dominated by SUVs, which account for nearly 40 percent of total sales. Having said that, the Elevate will compete in the fiercely competitive midsize SUV market, which has emerged as the second-largest sub-segment.

Earlier this year, Honda had announced its ambitious plan to introduce a new model every year in India, major focus being on hybrid and electric vehicles. To strengthen the Honda brand presence in the country, the company is also exploring the possibility of bringing premium models through the CBU (Completely Built-Up) and CKD (Completely Knocked Down) routes.

Furthermore, to accommodate the Elevate and future models, Honda has ramped up production at its plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The daily manufacturing capacity has been increased from 540 vehicles in Q1 of 2023 to an impressive 660 vehicles per day.
