Bengaluru, October 23 (IANS) Karnataka BJP has expressed concern over incidents of serious crimes in the state, claiming that while crimes are increasing, Home Minister G. Parameshwar is busy betting.
Speaking to the media at Jagannath Bhavan, the BJP state office in Bengaluru, National Youth Morcha president and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said: “In the last week, there have been three incidents of rape and murder of young girls in Basavanagudi, Malleshwaram and Gangondanahalli. In Mysuru – the chief minister’s own native place – a 9-year-old girl was gang-raped.
“When such horrific crimes are taking place, your Home Minister is busy in Diwali (Diwali) betting activities. This is the state of your governance.”
“Three rapes and murders took place within a week in the capital city itself. Neither the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister nor any minister raised voice against it,” he lamented.
“Due to Congress rule, Karnataka has already lost investments worth $15 billion compared to Andhra Pradesh. Instead of focusing on development, your IT minister is busy trying to ban RSS, while the home minister is busy betting,” he alleged.
Tejasvi Surya said, “To hide its failures, the Congress government keeps blaming Prime Minister Modi and BJP MPs.”
“More than 2,500 farmers have committed suicide in the state. Is Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for this? RTC employees are protesting due to non-payment of salaries. Is Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for this too?” he asked.
“In Hubli and Dharwad, thousands of youth are protesting because the government has not filled government and teaching posts. Large-scale corruption is taking place under the guise of tax collection in various departments.”
The money collected by the state is being used not for the people of Karnataka but for the election campaign in Bihar,” he alleged.
He said, “Seven government employees have committed suicide under the Congress rule. Contractors are protesting because the government has not released funds for their work. When we left the government, we had presented a surplus budget. Today, Karnataka is one of the most indebted states in the country. For every Rs 100 of revenue, Rs 18 goes to pay interest.”
“Except the jailed Congress MLAs, others are complaining that they are not getting development grants. The Congress government is spending more on guarantee schemes than on roads, education, irrigation and health. Yet, even the guarantee amount is not reaching the people. Where is all that money going?” He asked question.
Tejasvi Surya commented, “Instead of making the people of Karnataka self-reliant, your government has made them dependent on the state. After Siddaramaiah retires from politics, what will be his legacy? A prosperous Karnataka will be turned into a debt-ridden state.”
