A major fire broke out at a factory here and goods worth Rs 1 crore were burnt to ashes, police said on Monday.

Ten workers who were at the factory when the fire broke out managed to escape the building, they said, adding that no injuries were reported.

According to police, a fire broke out at Anish Plastic and Steel Factory in Mehhatpur Industrial Area of ​​Una district on Sunday night.

Officials said 12 fire engines were rushed to the spot after receiving information from factory owner Anish. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, goods worth Rs 1 crore had been reduced to ashes.

They said the fire was so intense that the building where the goods were stored collapsed.

Una deputy commissioner Jatin Lal said the department has been ordered to assess the cause of the fire and the damage caused.

Lal added that a case has been registered and efforts are on to understand the cause of the fire.
