Hemant Soren’s plea to ED will be next heard on February 27

The Jharkhand High Court on Monday postponed to February 27 the hearing on a petition filed by arrested former chief minister Hemant Soren against the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The court will hear the plea again that day. It requires federal agencies to file a comprehensive affidavit. The high court on February 5 asked the ED to file a reply to Soren’s petition.

Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 in connection with a money laundering case related to land fraud. On February 2, the JMM leader was remanded to ED custody for five days by the Ranchi Special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court.

On February 7, the court extended the ED remand of the former chief minister by five days.
