Death toll from landslides and floods rises due to persistent rains in central and southeast Mexico The number rose to 37 on Saturday, officials said, a sharp increase as thousands of troops cleared blocked roads to rescue missing people across the country.
Mexico’s National Civil Protection Coordination reported that as of Saturday, 22 people had died in heavy rains in Hidalgo state in the north. More than 320,000 users were affected by power outages caused by heavy rains across the country, officials said. Officials have blamed Tropical Storm Priscilla, which was previously a hurricane, and Tropical Storm Raymond for the deadly rain that fell on Mexico’s west coast.
