Haryana man strangles 8-year-old niece to death, buries body 3 km away from home

Nuh police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old man for strangulating his eight-year-old niece to death and burying her body in a field, 3 km from their village, police said. He said that the police recovered the body on Friday evening and kept it in the mortuary.

The girl had gone missing under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday.

Her father contacted the police and said that his daughter was playing with other children at home and went missing around 12 noon when he and his wife had gone to the fields.

Police said they lodged a complaint, based on which a missing FIR was lodged at the Firozpur Jhirka police station on Thursday.

During the investigation, the police reached the truck driver Abbas, who was arrested. During interrogation, Abbas confessed to killing the girl and burying her body in Doha village. Police said they have not yet revealed the motive behind the murder.

Police said that on their request the girl’s body was taken out of the grave and sent to Mandikheda District Hospital for post-mortem.

Inspector Aman Kumar, SHO of Firozpur Jhirka police station, said, “The accused worked as a truck driver. We are interrogating him and the post-mortem will be conducted by a board of doctors tomorrow.”
