Chandigarh, Oct 24 (IANS) Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi on Friday reviewed the preparations for the two-month-long nationwide campaign ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ being organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The high-level review meeting was convened in line with communications received from the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports as well as the office of the Union Minister of Labor and Employment and Youth Affairs.
Rastogi directed the officials to ensure active participation of all universities, colleges, technical institutes and schools across Haryana in this historic national campaign. As part of the programme, district level padayatras will be organized across the state on October 31 on the occasion of National Unity Day. After this, a 10-day national march – ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ will be organized from 26 November to 6 December.
The initiative, led by My Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, aims to promote national unity, patriotism and civic responsibility among the young citizens of India. It also seeks to inspire the youth to maintain the spirit of ‘One India, Self-reliant India’, which reflects Sardar Patel’s enduring vision of a strong, united nation.
The Chief Secretary stressed on the creation of District Core Committees (DCCs) in each district to ensure effective planning, coordination and execution of the Padayatra. Each committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, will include retired IAS officers, District Youth Officers, NSS Program Officers, representatives of MY Bharat, elected public representatives such as MPs and MLAs and key officials of the concerned departments.
The ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ is an important part of the broader Bharat Padayatra initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’ (people’s participation) in ‘Nation Building’. The campaign highlights the important role of the Amrit Peedhi – the youth of the Amrit period – in carrying forward the legacy of Sardar Patel’s unity, integrity and national strength.
Rastogi urged all departments, institutions and stakeholders to extend full cooperation and work in coordination to ensure that this nationwide festival becomes a huge success.
