“Happy that the people of Japan have supported India’s fight against terrorism”: BJP MP Bridge Lal

BJP MP Brij Lal expressed happiness that the people of Japan have supported India’s fight against terrorism and called meetings with Japanese authorities “good”. He said that India has been suffering due to terrorism for almost four decades and did not react until 2016.

Brij Lal, who is part of the delegation led by JD (U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, who is on a visit to Japan and other East Asian countries, mentioned how India retaliated against terrorists after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office. He said that the world appreciates India’s attitude against terrorism and knows that India is a peaceful nation. He said that if India is attacked in India, India would destroy terrorist bases and their sponsors.

A consensus parliamentary delegation from India, under the leadership of Parliament member Sanjay Kumar Jha, is on a visit to Japan from 22 to 24 May. On Thursday, the delegation met Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iveya.

The delegation also met former Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga and the current vice-president of the Liberal Democratic Party and President of the Japan-India Association as well as Takashi Endo, Chairman of the House of Representative Committee on Representative House of Representative Committee on National Security.

The official statement said that the two leaders confirmed Japan’s continuous support for India’s efforts against terrorism. The Indian delegation also held a conversation with the leading Japanese think tank, briefing the participants on India’s zero tolerance policy on terrorism.
