Rafa:
Israeli forces killed six Palestinian policemen on Tuesday, the health ministry in Hamas-controlled Gaza said, as witnesses told AFP they were ensuring the passage of an aid truck.
“Six Palestinian police officers were killed as a result of Israeli occupation of vehicles in the Khirbat al-Adas neighborhood of Rafah city,” the ministry statement said.
Witnesses said police were protecting the aisle of a flour truck when the Israeli plane crashed into their vehicle, tearing the passengers to shreds.
An AFP photographer at the scene saw parts of the crashed vehicle spraying with blood and a police logo on the hood.
First responders covered the body with a blanket and loaded it into a damaged ambulance.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the attack when contacted by AFP.
Palestinian police have been deployed to protect aid convoys traveling through Gaza, where desperate residents climbed onto trucks in search of vital supplies.
Vehicles and buildings have been attacked repeatedly in Rafah, which is home to more than half of Gaza’s population.
Israeli military operations have killed at least 27,585 people in Gaza since Oct. 7, mostly women and children, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-controlled region.
The war was triggered by attacks by Hamas agents on Israel that killed about 1,160 people, mostly civilians, according to AFP statistics based on official Israeli figures.
