Hamas releases video of three Israeli female hostages after UN Court verdict

AFP has identified three women using official and community sources.

Palestinian militant group Hamas released a video on Friday showing three Israeli women being held hostage in Gaza since the October 7 attack.

Two of the women seen in the five-minute video said they were Israeli soldiers, and the third said she was a civilian.

AFP has identified three women using official and community sources.

The women said they were detained for 107 days, suggesting that the video may have been filmed on Sunday.

The video was released shortly after the UN’s top court ruled that Israel should make every possible effort to prevent any acts of genocide in Gaza.

The court called for the “immediate and unconditional release” of hostages kidnapped during the October 7 attack.

The unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7 resulted in the deaths of about 1,140 people in Israel, the majority of whom were civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures.

The militants also captured about 250 hostages and Israel says about 132 of them remain in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 28 dead detainees.

At least 26,083 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli bombings and ground attacks in the Gaza Strip since then, according to the Hamas government’s health ministry, about 70 percent of whom are women, young children and teenagers.
