Odisha Governor Raghubar Das hoisted the tricolor in Bhubaneswar on Republic Day 2024. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was also present at the ceremony.
The Governor received the Guard of Honor of the parade led by IPS officer AB Shilpa. Sixty-four contingents including ITBP, CRPF, BSF, Fire, ODRAF, Odisha Home Guard, RPF and Sainik School Police Band participated in the parade on Friday.
Other participants included four cultural groups, Odisha Skating Academy and a skating team from the Dare Devils. Jharkhand Police also participated in the Republic Day Parade as a guest contingent.
Various departments of the Government of Odisha including Agriculture, Education, Health, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water, Works Department, Handloom and Textiles and Handicrafts presented their tableaus highlighting their achievements and initiatives.
On this occasion, a flock of pigeons was released as a symbol of peace and freedom.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the parade venue with a three-tier security arrangement. A total of 160 police officers, 300 constables, 90 section police forces and 150 home guards were deployed in and around the venue during the parade.
The national flag was hoisted at all district headquarters, offices and educational and business establishments to celebrate Republic Day 2024.
