Mumbai:
Bollywood actor Salman Khan heard gunshots outside his residence in Mumbai early this morning, police said. At 5am this morning, two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired five shots in the air outside Mr. Bandra Khan’s house before quickly fleeing the scene.
A bullet also hit the first floor of the building where Mr Khan lived, police said, adding that a foreign pistol was used in the shooting. Mumbai police have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to trace the shooter.
Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said Mr Khan was at the top of a list of 10 prime targets planned to be eliminated by prison gangster Lawrence Bishnoi over the actor’s notorious 1998 murder of a gangster The deer hunting incident, which, according to gang members, offended the Bishnoi community.
Bishnoi revealed that his follower Sampat Nehra had spied on Mr Khan’s Bandra residence to prepare for a potential crackdown. However, Nehra was caught by the Haryana Police Special Task Force.
Following another threatening call on April 11 last year, the Mumbai Police upgraded Mr. Khan’s security status to Y+. An Indian student in the UK has been issued a Lookout Notice (LOC) for allegedly sending threatening emails to Mr Khan.
