Gujarat cricket body breaks silence after claims of ‘security threat’ to Virat Kohli in Ahmedabad. cricket news

A shocking news came from Ahmedabad before the RCB vs RR IPL 2024 Eliminator. Royal Challengers Bangalore had to cancel their only practice session before the start of the knockout match due to security concerns, a report has claimed. According to a report in Bengali daily Anand Bazaar Patrika, an issue arose over Virat Kohli’s security, due to which RCB had to abandon the practice session. RCB were scheduled to practice at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad on Tuesday ahead of the eliminator on Wednesday, but could not go ahead as scheduled.

According to the ABP report, Gujarat Police indicated that the main reason for canceling the practice session and press conference was Virat’s safety. Police also arrested 4 people from Ahmedabad on suspicion of alleged terrorist activity.

Now, a Times of India report quoting a top Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) official has given a different version of the events that unfolded.

“There was no terror threat. We had made a provision for both Rajasthan Royals and RCB to practice at the Gujarat College ground. RCB was to practice from 2 pm to 5 pm, but since the light was good, they changed it to 3-5 pm. Gujarat Cricket Association Secretary Anil Patel said, “In summers in Ahmedabad till 6.30 pm. However, Rajasthan Royals practiced with their entire team from 3.30 to 6.30 pm at the Gujarat College ground.”

“RCB skipped their practice session due to the ongoing heat in the city. We had told RCB that they can use the indoor practice facility there, or the indoor facility at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However, RCB Didn’t want to practice because of heatstroke.

We had taken special permission (for the practice of tram in the college ground) from the collector office, because the college ground comes under its control. The Collector had given special permission to both the teams to practice on the college grounds. However, as I said earlier, RCB avoided the practice session due to the heat,” Patel said.

There was no pressure even before the match and this gave rise to speculations. However, The Times of India report quoted a BCCCI source as saying: “No press was ever scheduled before this match because the first qualifier (between Kolkata Knight Riders and Hyderabad Sunrisers) was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium yesterday. middle) had already been played.” In any case, it is not unusual for teams to miss practice sessions at this late stage of the tournament, as they try to remain fresh for matches after a long campaign.”
