Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez Mora, named the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records, died just weeks before his 115th birthday.
Guinness World Records awarded him the honor on February 4, 2022, when he was 112 years and 253 days old, just weeks after Saturnino de le Fuento Garcia Fuento Garcia) passed away.
He attributed his longevity to “hard work, resting on holidays, going to bed early, drinking a glass of aguardiente every day, and loving God and always keeping him in my heart.”

Mr. Mora was the father of 11 grandchildren, 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A 2022 Guinness statement said, “He began working in agriculture at the age of five alongside his father and brothers, assisting in the harvesting of sugar cane and coffee.”
Perez later became a police sergeant, settling land and family disputes while still working in agriculture.
After surviving two world wars, seeing the invention of television and seeing humans land on the moon, Juan Vicente also survived COVID-19 in 2020.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro also paid tribute to Perez on social media. He wrote: “Juan Vincent Pérez Mora is 114 years old and will live forever. My heart goes out to his family and to the people of Venezuela. All the people of El Cobre, Chila State send their embraces and condolences.”…May God receive him in His divine glory. “
