New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the record-breaking Diwali sales show how the GST Bachat Utsav has boosted demand, production and employment across the country, adding that ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ has now transformed into ‘Rozgar Utsav’.

Addressing the ‘Rozgar Mela’ through video conference, PM Modi highlighted that this festive season has brought not only festive joy but also new opportunities for thousands of youth who have received appointment letters for permanent jobs.

“Amidst the festival celebrations, receiving appointment letters for permanent jobs brings a double dose of happiness – both festival happiness and employment success,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi said that more than 51,000 youth received appointment letters on Friday, marking the twin celebration of Diwali and employment.

“These appointments are not just government jobs, but opportunities to actively contribute to nation building,” the Prime Minister said. He emphasized that when the youth succeeds, the nation succeeds.

Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to all the appointees and their families and encouraged them to maintain the spirit of service through the mantra of ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’.

The Prime Minister said that employment fairs have become a powerful platform to fulfill the aspirations of the youth, with more than 11 lakh appointment letters issued so far.

PM Modi also mentioned the government’s ‘PM Vikas Bharat Rozgar Yojana’, which aims to provide employment to 3.5 crore young Indians.

Prime Minister Modi said, “Initiatives like Skill India Mission and National Career Service are connecting youth with training and employment opportunities, information on more than 7 crore vacancies has already been shared through these platforms.”

On the impact of GST reforms, the Prime Minister pointed out that the rate cuts have increased consumer demand, increased production and created new employment opportunities.

“When everyday goods become cheaper, demand increases; increased demand accelerates production; and more production creates new jobs. Thus, the ‘GST Savings Festival’ is turning into an employment festival,” PM Modi said.
