Google Wallet users have something new to look forward to as Google rolls out the “Automatically add link passes” setting. This follows the recent launch of transfer payment verification settings, further enhancing the capabilities of the digital wallet app.

The new feature, located in the Passes subsection of Google Wallet settings on Android, allows pass providers to automatically add relevant event tickets, promotions, offers, and more to existing passes. The setting is reportedly enabled by default and aims to simplify the user experience by seamlessly integrating additional tokens into the wallet 9to5google.

According to Google, “Auto-Link Passes” will be grouped with the main passes and have clear callouts above them to notify users of newly added content. This feature supports various pass types including event passes, boarding passes, transit passes, concession passes, gift card passes, loyalty card passes, and universal passes.

“Automatically add link passes” feature

The potential applications of this feature are diverse and practical. For example, users can link offers to existing loyalty cards, meal vouchers to boarding passes or event tickets, parking passes to event tickets, and more.

worry and control

While automatically adding linked passes provides convenience, there is concern that pass lists may become cluttered with unwanted promotions and offers. To resolve this issue, users can choose to disable automatic behavior, giving them control over pass management.

While the “Learn More” link directs users to an unavailable Google support article, Google’s developer documentation provides insight into how the auto-link pass works. This feature allows pass providers to send additional passes to users who already have a pass in Google Wallet, or even pre-link the pass to a main pass.

The “Automatically add link passes” setting was introduced as part of Google Wallet version 24.10.x and appears to be being rolled out more broadly than previous settings updates. As users explore this new feature, Google aims to ensure that it enhances convenience without overwhelming users with unnecessary pass additions.
