Google Play Games for PC will add more native PC games this year

Google Play Games launches for Windows in 2022, bringing a wide selection of Android games to PC. Google’s gaming service, first announced in 2021, also launched in beta in India last year, offering optimized Android games for PC. Google recently announced that it will expand support for native PC games on the platform, and in addition to Android games, more customized PC games will be available on Google Play Games.

At last week’s Google for Games Developer Summit 2024, the company Announce It will bring more PC games from top developers to the Google Play Games app on Windows. “Google Play Games will expand support for native PC games. This means you will be able to discover and play more games designed for PC directly through Google Play,” the company said.

Google will expand support for native PC games this year explain. Google’s internal data shows that Google Play Games for PC has more than 3,000 games in more than 140 countries/regions, and the service has brought developers a 35% increase in game time.

While it’s unclear whether Google plans to bring AAA PC games from developers to its storefront, the announcement certainly opens the door for new PC games on the platform. Currently, Steam and Epic Games Store remain the two most popular PC game storefronts. Google is unlikely to seek to disrupt the space and compete with Valve and Epic, two companies involved in the gaming industry and involved in different aspects of game development, publishing and sales.

The Google Play Games storefront on PC already offers some native PC games like Lineage2M, Odin: Valhalla Rising, Genshin Impact, and Dragonheir: Silent Gods, but it promises “more ways for players to experience top titles across mobile and PC.”

Google Play Games for PC was launched in beta last year in India to provide native PC gaming support for Windows. Users signed in with a Google account can also sync seamlessly between devices. The platform is accessible in India in English and Hindi.
