Google Pixel 8a retail packaging leaked – this is what the new mid-ranger could look like

Google’s Pixel a series lineup is a good example of how you don’t need the latest and greatest specifications to deliver a good experience, especially when it comes to the camera. That said, the Pixel 7a has been a long time coming, and with just a few months to go until Google I/O 2024, new information has emerged about the Pixel 8a.

The most recent leaked images of the Pixel 8a’s retail packaging by Google News Group provide a possible glimpse of the appearance of Google’s upcoming mid-range device. These leaks, coming from Vietnam, unveil a design strongly reminiscent of the rounded aesthetics featured on the flagship Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, which were launched in October last year. Additionally, the images show the device in black color, presumably naming it Obsidian.

Apart from the color, the Pixel 8a may feature a dual-camera setup reminiscent of the Pixel 7a. This setup suggests the inclusion of both wide and ultra-wide lenses. As for the specifications, the Pixel 8a is likely to be powered by the Tensor G3, which is Google’s third-generation in-house mobile chipset, the same chipset behind the Pixel 8 lineup.

It’s unclear when the device will launch, but if the past is any indication, Google typically unveils its Pixel series of devices around May, coinciding with the Google I/O event. For example, the Pixel 6a was introduced in May 2021. So, it is possible that we could see the launch of Pixel 8a within the same time frame.
