Google Photos makes Magic Editor and other AI tools free for everyone, even if you don’t have a Pixel smartphone

Google Photos will soon make AI-powered editing tools available to users for free. Google has been working on bringing new features to its Photos app in recent weeks, the latest of which is Favorites shortcuts designed to simplify the process of sharing photos. While the app also offers a ton of AI-powered editing features, most of them are locked and key-protected by a Google One subscription. But that could soon change.

Google Photos AI editing tools

Currently, Google Photos offers users a suite of AI-powered editing tools. These tools include Audio Magic Eraser Audio, which allows users to remove unwanted sounds from videos, Magic Editor, which uses AI to reimagine photos, and Photo Unblur, which sharpens blurry images. While these features will often come in handy, if you’re not a Pixel user, most of them are under a Google One subscription. But not anymore. Google announced that starting May 15, the company will make these artificial intelligence editing tools free.

Google has announced that all Google Photos users on Android and iOS will receive 10 Magic Editor saves per month. If users wish to exceed this limit, Google will require a Pixel device or a Premium Google One subscription. These tools will be rolled out to users in phases, so not all devices will be available on the same day. Keep your Google Photos app updated to enjoy all the new free AI editing tools coming soon.
