Google has launched a second screen “Companion Mode” in the Meet app on Android and iOS. Companion mode allows users to participate in Meet calls using an in-room audio/video conferencing system instead of their own computer. This feature was initially introduced for the web.

“Starting today, you’ll be able to use Companion Mode on Android and iOS devices,” Google said in a blog post.

“Using companion mode from your mobile device is a quick, lightweight way to participate in meetings without opening your laptop. This is particularly useful in meeting spaces where laptop space is limited,” it added.

The feature allows you to access “interactive features and controls” in a conference room or large meeting space.

Users can use Companion Mode to check in to a room to be identified by name, share emoji reactions without interrupting the speaker, raise a hand to indicate they want to speak, turn on subtitles to view subtitles as each person speaks during the meeting, and more .

Meanwhile, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the company has reached 100 million subscriptions for its Google One service, which provides additional storage for free services such as Gmail, Drive and Photos space and access to more features.
