Hahn recalled: “Diane lived right downstairs from me. My house was upstairs, and I went downstairs, and I said, you know, we can talk to each other. We’d laugh, because we were so close, and, literally, I said, ‘Let me get a megaphone.’
“The greatest thing was to know that she was right below me,” she added. “I’d go and take care of my flowers and stuff, my rose garden, and it was there on the side. And I remember looking and thinking, ‘What in the world is she doing now?’ She was always on my mind. She was very close to me.”
Sugarland Express The star became emotional while talking about Keaton’s death.
“I got a chance to learn in my backyard,” he told the audience. “And I went into my backyard, into my rose garden, and I looked down at her house [thought], She can’t go. She can’t just go.
“No one should ever die like that. She just brought so much joy, so much life, so much enthusiasm. She was like lightning in a bottle. There was nothing she couldn’t do. There was no world she couldn’t live in. She was just an extraordinary human being.”
Hawn previously shared a tribute to Keaton on social media shortly after his death.
“We agreed to grow old together and one day maybe live with all of our girlfriends,” she wrote.
