Genocide allegations against Israel 'outrageous', says PM Benjamin Netanyahu

PM Netanyahu said, “The charge of genocide leveled against Israel is not only false, but also insulting.”

Tel Aviv:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the genocide charge against Israel is “outrageous” and that “civilized people everywhere should reject it.”

Responding to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on South Africa’s genocide claim against Israel, the Israeli PM said, “The charge of genocide made against Israel is not only false but outrageous and civilized people everywhere should reject it.” Should be rejected.”

Mr Netanyahu said: “On the eve of International Genocide Remembrance Day, I pledge again as Prime Minister of Israel – never again. Israel will continue to defend itself against Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organization.”

He said Israel’s commitment to international law is unwavering and the country’s solemn commitment to continue “defending our country and our people” is equally unwavering.

“Like every nation, Israel has an inherent right to defend itself. This despicable attempt to deprive Israel of this fundamental right is blatant discrimination against the Jewish state, and was rightly rejected.”

The International Court of Justice in The Hague on Friday ordered Israel to ‘take all measures’ to stop the massacre in Gaza.

However, the court did not order implementation of the ceasefire.

The court’s decision was agreed to by 15 votes to 2.

Also, Israel was ordered to report to the court within a month.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said: “On October 7, Hamas committed the worst atrocities against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, and it vows to repeat these atrocities again and again.”

He said that Israel’s fight is against Hamas terrorists, not against Palestinian citizens. “We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance, and do our best to keep civilians out of harm’s way, even if Hamas uses civilians as human shields.”

“We will continue to do whatever is necessary to protect our country and protect our people,” he said.
