Gen AI features are coming to Chrome for users: Here’s what you’ll get

Google is introducing new generative AI features to the Chrome browser – organize your tabs smarter, create your own themes with AI, and get help formatting things on the web. Starting with the latest release of Chrome, the company has introduced experimental Generative AI features to make browsing even easier and more efficient.

“You’ll be able to try these new features in Chrome on Mac and Windows PC over the next few days in the US,” the company said. To use these features, sign in to Chrome, select ‘Settings’ from the three-dot menu and navigate to the ‘Experimental AI’ page.

Since these features are early public experiments, Google said, “They will be disabled for enterprise and educational accounts for now.” With Tab Organizer, Chrome will automatically suggest and create tab groups based on your open tabs.

According to the company, “This can be especially helpful if you’re working on multiple tasks in Chrome at the same time, like planning a trip, researching a topic, and making a purchase.”

Last year, Google introduced generic AI wallpapers with Android 14 and Pixel 8 devices. “Now we’re bringing the same text-to-image diffusion model to Chrome so you can personalize your browser even more. You will be able to instantly create custom themes based on the theme, mood, visual style and color you choose,” the company said.

In next month’s Chrome release, the company will launch another experimental AI-powered feature to help users write with more confidence on the web. “Type in a few words and our AI will start the writing process for you,” Google explains.
