Team India skipper Rohit Sharma made an appearance on Netflix’s Great Indian Kapil Show along with star batsman Shreyas Iyer and the show was on fire. With his street-smart sense of humour, Rohit provided ample entertainment to the audience, and even Iyer. During one interaction, host Kapil Sharma asked Iyer to name a player whom he looked up to as a child. Iyer revealed that Rohit has been his idol since childhood and said that he learned his traits from the energetic opening.

Iyer clarified that he chose Rohit not because of the camera or because of the Indian captain standing next to him.

“You may not be kidding, you may be flattering, but Rohit Bhai has always been a complete idol. Because he is also from Mumbai, which is where I am from and grew up watching him,” Iyer said Later. The host asked me to name my idol.

While Rohit did acknowledge Iyer’s actions, he went on to joke about current players talking bad about him behind his back in the dressing room.

“There is a lot of abuse in the dressing room. There is a log in front, there is a camera. Young people today are very dangerous,” Rohit replied. His response put Kapil and Iyer at odds.

Rohit is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. However, he lost the captaincy before the start of the season when he was replaced by Hardik Pandya.

Under Pandya’s leadership, MI has suffered three defeats so far this season.

In comparison, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Iyer has led the team to three wins this season.

For the uninitiated, Iyer was recently dropped from the BCCI central contract list due to his apparent reluctance to play in the Ranji Trophy.

After losing his core contract, Iyer had said that he wants to put all these negative thoughts aside as he focuses on what is in store for him.

“I don’t want to think about what the doctor said, what the injury was, because as I mentioned before, when you think too much, you focus on the injury and, in that moment, forget what you’re doing. Try your best. And for,” Iyer told the media before the team’s first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“So, I want to put all these things aside and focus on what I can do,” the KKR skipper made clear about his priorities.
