Lawrence Troy of Mansfield and Jonathan Seward of Sheffield were the lucky winners.
The Massachusetts Lottery announced that two $1 million prizes in a scratch-off game were claimed within half an hour. Officials revealed that Jonathan Seward from Sheffield visited the lottery headquarters and claimed a $1 million prize from a 100X Cashword scratch-off ticket worth $5,000,000. Shortly thereafter, Lawrence Troy of Mansfield arrived and claimed the same amount from the same lottery ticket.
according to a statement organized byLawrence Troy of Mansfield and Jonathan Seward of Sheffield each elected to receive their bonuses in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes).
Seward said he scratched off the winning ticket while enjoying a glass of wine in front of the fireplace after taking care of some bills. He is self-employed and said he plans to invest his winnings in his own business.
Seward bought the winning ticket at Silk’s Variety, 107 Main Street, Sheffield. The store was the original mass lottery retailer in 1972 and offered a $10,000 prize for selling this ticket. It is the first million dollar winning ticket ever sold at this location and is currently the only lottery retailer in Sheffield.
Mr Troy said he had no current plans for bonuses. He bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 70 Copeland Drive in Mansfield. The location also receives a $10,000 sales bonus.
