Former US envoy named among BJP's candidates in latest Lok Sabha polls

New Delhi:

The BJP on Saturday nominated candidates for 11 more Lok Sabha constituencies, including some leaders who have recently joined from different parties like Bhartruhari Mahtab, Ravneet Singh Bhatt Ravneet Singh Bittu, Sushil Kumar Rinku and Preneet Kaur.

All these leaders have taken office in the outgoing Lok Sabha, while former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu will also contest the polls for the first time in Amritsar.

Hans Raj Hans, who won in north-west Delhi on the BJP ticket in 2019, will contest from the Faridkot seat, which is for Scheduled Castes ( SC) reserved.

Mahtab, a senior legislator who recently quit the BJD, will contest from Cuttack, Bittu in Ludhiana, Kaur in Patiala and Jha Contesting from Rinku in Jalandhar, a seat reserved for SC.

Bittu, the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Bitt Singh, and Kaur, the wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, both served in the Congress party before joining the BJP, while Linku was in Amarinder Democratic Party.

The BJP on Sunday nominated two candidates from West Bengal, three from Odisha and six from Punjab.

The party has announced candidates for 411 seats so far.
