Robert Downey Jr. is coming to Broadway for the first time.

The 59-year-old veteran actor is preparing to make his Broadway debut with a new play in September this year mcneil,

“I’m making my Broadway debut in the new play MCNEAL at Lincoln Center Theater!” he wrote along with the poster of the play.

He said, “I knew I wanted to be in Ayad’s new play before I finished reading it, then I heard Bart was directing at the Beaumont Theatre, so the deal was done.”

The Oscar winner quipped, “It’s been 40 years since I was last on the “board,” but hopefully I’ll bite the dust soon.”

He said, “McNeil is a timely and important story about the future of creators, and I wanted to do it justice.”

mcneil Previews begin on September 5 and open on September 30 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York City. Tickets will be available from Tuesday, May 21.
