Former Union minister Birender Singh on Monday said he has quit the Bharatiya Janata Party and will join the Congress, a move that comes nearly a month after his son Briginder Singh joined the grand old party ongoing.

Birender Singh’s wife, a former BJP MP from Premlata in Haryana, also quit the BJP.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Birender Singh said: “I have resigned as a major member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and submitted my resignation to the party president JP Nadda. My wife P Prem Lata, who was a BJP MP from 2014 to 2019, has also resigned from the party. “Tomorrow, we will attend the Congress. ” Birender Singh joined the BJP nearly 10 years ago after serving in the Congress party for more than four years.

After his son joined the Congress party on March 10, there were speculations that Birender Singh would follow suit.
