Jaipur:

Former BJP MP Manvendra Singh, son of former Union minister Jaswant Singh, returned to the Congress party on Friday after five years in the party.

Singh, who moved to Congress in October 2018, joined the BJP ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Barmer. He also shared the stage with other leaders of the BJP during the Prime Minister’s rally.

“Today, I rejoined the BJP family and party workers at the Adarsh Stadium in Barmer in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi. We are all committed to the realization of Narendra Modi Prime Minister Dehra Modi’s public welfare policies and ‘Vikshit Bharat’ resolution,” he said in a Facebook post.

Mr Singh was elected as a BJP MLA from the Sheo parliamentary constituency of Barmer in December 2013.

When the BJP refused to provide a ticket to Jaswant Singh, who subsequently contested the Lok Sabha elections as an independent and lost, Manvendra Singh ) became rebellious and campaigned against the party’s candidates in support of his father.

Manvendra Singh was suspended from the party ahead of the 2018 assembly elections.

He joined the Congress, which got him a ticket from the Jalapathan Assembly seat, contesting against the then Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. He lost the election.
