Former England captain Michael Vaughan has shared his advice to BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar regarding the Indian cricket team’s squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. There was a lot of controversy over the selection of players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. The major T20 tournament will be held in June this year in the United States and West Indies. Warne advised Agarkar to take a brave decision and drop someone like Kohli or Rahul if the chief selector feels they should not be part of the team. “What I would say to Ajit Agarkar is, don’t be afraid to be brave. If he ultimately believes that the Indian T20 team is better without Virat Kohli or KL Rahul, that’s how he should lead the team,” Times Now quoted Warne words.

The last time India won a major ICC event was back in 2013. Since then, the Indian team has failed to win the final of any major ICC event despite having star players in the team. Warne feels that the new line-up of players could help the Indian team in the upcoming tournament.

“Don’t feel the pressure of having to select all the big names because you know they haven’t won a trophy yet. And probably a fresher mentality, not having the baggage of failure in November (2023 World Cup), not being in the last T20 The baggage of poor performances in the World Cup…maybe they need a new set of thinking. He may have 30 names that he can put in the bag, he will take out bowlers, batsmen, spinners, whatever he knocks out Whoever they are, they will all be competitive,” the former England captain said.

The International Cricket Council announced the 2024 T20 World Cup schedule in January this year.

The event will kick off with a game between the United States and Canada on June 1 in Texas. Meanwhile, a fierce encounter between India and Pakistan will take place on June 9 in New York.

A total of 20 teams participated in this competition, divided into four groups of five teams in each group. The semi-finals of the event will be held from June 25th to 27th, and the peak showdown will be held on June 29th.
