'Follow someone home': Unique traffic signboard catches attention in Bengaluru

This well-intentioned safety reminder backfired due to a curious design choice

A ‘bizarre’ traffic signboard in Bengaluru city has caught the attention of social media. Despite having a thoughtful message behind it, a traffic sign designed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP) has now gone viral for its hilarious misinterpretation.

The unexpected instruction, which read “Follow someone home,” forced drivers to do a double take. While a closer look revealed the full message on the signboard, which read, “Obey traffic rules. Someone is waiting for you at home,” this well-meaning safety reminder backfired due to a curious design choice. The very different font size between the initial instruction and the rest of the message caused confusion and amusement among passersby.

Posted on X by user Sumukh Rao, the strange traffic signboard has caught the attention of netizens. The caption reads, “Who thought this was a good sign to put up??? Reads very poorly while driving and you can’t see the text in the small font.”

This signboard was seen near Cubbon Park.

The sign mistake took over the internet and users turned it into a hilarious online conversation.

One user joked, “Boys should be like this: We don’t need any instructions to do what we usually do.”

Another user wrote on X, “The authorities and their script writers are completely out of sync in terms of requirements and functionality.”

“Memorable stuff,” a third user wrote.

“Follow someone home. That sounds creepy,” a fourth user commented.

“They’re promoting something else,” a fifth user commented.
