Fitness hearing for Adam Kai-G Lov, accused of 11 murders at Vancouver Festival

Vancouver – A person accusing a SUV into a crowd and killing 11 people at the Vancouver Lapu Lapu Day Festival is scheduled to appear in court today, with a judge to determine whether he is fit to test.

The festival organizer Philipino BC President RJ Acwino says the court proceedings could prove to be “painful” for the victims and members of the Filipino community.

He says that many people have expressed anger and frustration since the April 26 attack and it is still difficult to face the tragedy after about three months.

Thirty-year-old Adam Kai-G Lo faced 11 allegations of second degree murder, police on Tuesday announced that three additional allegations were approved.

Low is ready to appear in the Vancouver Provincial Court for a two -day fitness hearing, where a judge will determine his mental fitness for a test that may be overcome months.

A media consortium that includes Canadian press plans today to challenge a publication ban on the fitness hearing being sought by the crown.

Under the proposed ban, evidences arising in fitness hearing will not be published until the ban is lifted or after the end of the criminal test.

However, it proposes that the result of fitness hearing can be reported, as well as the result of the application for the publication ban.

Acino says that members of the Filipino community community would be looking closely at the hearing.

He says that many people want “fast”, but justice takes time.

Acino says that Filipino BC will prepare for all possible results, and will continue support for families and community members of the victims.

“We want to ensure that we are providing support to the community that the community needs, we are able to be present with each other because we essentially what happened through these action.”

Dozens of people were injured in an attack in East Vancouver, in which a black SUV used to roam through a road with festivals. Police said in June that seven victims remained in the hospital.
