Fire breaks out in Mumbai Timber Market, burnt body of one person found on the spot

The charred body of a man was found after a massive fire broke out at a timber market in south Mumbai early Friday, a civic official said.

The fire was confined to wooden stock in a large area in Chor Bazaar area of ​​Grant Road in south Mumbai, the official said.

He said that the fire broke out around 2 am in the night and 20 fire tenders were deployed to extinguish the fire.

Authorities evacuated a nearby mall and a high-rise building as the fire, which the fire brigade described as ‘level 4’, was severe, an official said.

Apart from the fire brigade, police, local civic ward officials, BEST employees and ambulances have also been involved in the fire fighting operation.

He said a rescue operation was launched, during which firefighters recovered the burnt body of a person.
