Jaipur:
Six people were killed and one injured after a fire broke out at a chemical plant in Jaipur’s Pasir district on Saturday night, officials said.
Jaipur district collector Prakash Rajpurohit said the fire broke out late tonight after a boiler exploded at the factory.
One of the two injured was taken to Sawai Man Singh Government Hospital in Jaipur with 95 per cent burns on his body and died there, officials said.
According to hospital sources, the other injured person suffered 65% burns and is receiving treatment at the hospital.
Jaipur police chief Biju George Joseph said five people died on the spot. The fire has been put out.
“The injured have been admitted to SMS Hospital here. Doctors are trying their best to provide them better treatment,” DC Rajpurohit said, adding that the matter would be investigated.
Soon after the incident, locals gathered at the spot demanding action against the absconding factory owner.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed condolences over the deaths and directed officials to provide all assistance to those affected.
The fire at a Brazilian chemical plant near Jaipur, which resulted in the death of civilians, is extremely sad. Relevant personnel have been directed to rush to the spot immediately, carry out rescue work quickly and provide all possible help to the affected people,” Mr. Sharma posted on X.
“I pray to Lord Siri Ram to bring peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured,” he added.
