Actress Marissa Abela consulted a nutritionist to help her safely play Amy Winehouse in the upcoming biopic about her.

Abella told Harper’s Bazaar UK: “I had help to do it safely; I consulted with a nutritionist and was monitored.”
“Feeling weaker and smaller helps – I didn’t understand how much that affects your rhythm before.”

“In her frank days [her debut album released in 2003], Amy Her arms are fast, loud, noisy, she moves big,” she said.
“Once I started changing, I realized you can’t do the same movements physically.
“Sitting is uncomfortable. You’re tired, hungry, and more exposed.”
Winehouse, who suffered from bulimia and publicly battled drug addiction, died of alcohol poisoning at her home in Camden, north London, in July 2011 at the age of 27.
During the shoot, Abella said she felt a connection with the Grammy-winning singer, who both grew up in Jewish homes.

The actress, whose mother is Jewish, said: “The more I got to know her, the more I felt a huge connection to this snarky Jewish girl from London who had a lot to say and was really Fearless.”
“I remember how I felt when I was younger, seeing that proud and calm woman wearing a Star of David between her cleavage and a nice bra.
“I knew what Friday night dinner would be like at her house and I knew the humor in her house.”
“I love her passion, how huge her soul is, how she permeates any room she’s in.
“But also, her relationship with her art form and wanting to be good. That’s the most important thing.”
“My job is to put myself in Amy’s shoes.”
The biopic is directed by Fifty Shades of Gray filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson, whose husband Aaron was reportedly recently the next james bond.
It follows Winehouse’s journey to fame, with the villains being “junkies” and “ruthless paparazzi.”

“As an actor, I think you make a terrible mistake when you judge a character and a character’s decisions,” Abella said.
“Of course – these are not just characters, they are real people.
“My job was to understand Amy’s situation and her soul and understand why she did the things she did.
“The only villains in our story are drug addiction and the ruthless paparazzi. I’m not going to tell people how to feel about it.”
