A US Marine has revealed that his parents were detained snow Agent during a recent visit to Camp Pendleton CaliforniaAfter which he was fitted with ankle monitors and ordered to report back to the agency, after which he was recaptured and his father was deported.
marine steve rios told NBC News’ San Diego affiliate That her parents, Esteban Rios and Luisa Rodriguez, had arrived in Pendleton, Oceanside, on Sunday, September 28, to take her pregnant younger sister, Ashley, and her husband, also a Marine, out for breakfast, as they had done frequently for several months.
This time, he was stopped at the gate by ICE and taken to a detention center in the city.

Subsequently released with ankle tags, the pair were returned to the ICE facility on Thursday, October 2, as requested, but were taken into custody again, despite Esteban Rios wearing a red shirt and white cap that read “Proud Father of a US Marine,” according to his son.
Steve Rios told NBC that he later spoke by phone with his father, who said he and Luisa were being held in the city for now, but were expected to be moved to the Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego County.
By Friday, October 10, Esteban had been exiled, and Luisa’s location was unknown.
Rios said neither of his parents had a criminal record, and both had work visa and green card applications pending, which he was proud to sponsor. “It was scary,” he reflected. “It was scary because my whole life, in a way, it’s been in the back of my mind.”
An ICE spokesperson told NBC in a statement: “As part of its regular operations, ICE arrests aliens who commit crimes and arrests other individuals who have violated our country’s immigration laws.

“All aliens who violate U.S. immigration law are subject to arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the United States, regardless of nationality.”
Independent ICE has also been contacted for further comment.
Rios said his parents immigrated from Mexico 30 years ago and have worked tirelessly cleaning homes and cars ever since.
He said, “It was just making him proud, right? I’ve seen all his struggles.” “The least I could do was, okay, and serve this country and try to, you know, put some time into it.”
“It’s hard just because you just want to hear your parents’ voice, that everything’s going to be okay,” Ashley Rios said of her parents’ plight, which comes as she’s expecting her first child.
“I’ll always want my mom to be in that delivery room and everything, so it’s hard not to think about my parents being there.”
Asked by NBC what he believed would happen next, Steve Rios said: “He might be sent back. He might not be sent back. Only the guy who’s over there knows.”
