The father-of-two who was brutally murdered in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, set fire to a bicycle on Sunday amid fears the motive behind the double murder was unclear.

According to police, Sajid, an acquaintance from the neighborhood who ran a barber shop opposite the victim’s residence, was responsible for the double murder. Vinod Singh, the children’s father, who knew Sajid, came to their house on the pretense of borrowing Rs 5,000. However, soon after receiving the money, Sajid launched a savage attack on the children as their mother prepared tea for him.

After entering the home, Sajid allegedly asked Ayush (11) to take him to his mother’s beauty salon upstairs. After reaching the second floor, Sajid allegedly switched off the lights and then viciously attacked Ayush with a knife. As Sajid slit Ayush’s throat, his younger brother Ahaan (6) entered the room. Sajid then grabbed Ahaan and stabbed him multiple times. He then targeted their other sibling, Piyush, although the seven-year-old managed to escape, sustaining minor injuries in the process.

After the attack, Sajid and his brother Javid fled the scene, with Javid reportedly waiting outside on his motorcycle. However, their escape was short-lived and Sajid was later confronted by police and killed in an encounter. The encounter also left a police officer injured.

Co-accused Javed was on the run but later surrendered to Bareilly police. Javed claimed his innocence in a video message and said he had recordings of calls implicating his brother in the crime.

Vinod Singh, the father of the murdered child, has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the murder. He urged the authorities not to resort to conflict but to ensure the arrest of Javed to ascertain the motive behind the heinous crime.

“I want to know the reason for the murder,” Vinod Singh asked the authorities for answers.

“Javid must be interrogated so we know why they did it. If he had been killed in an encounter, the secret would never have been revealed. Others could have been involved as well.
