FA Trophy tie between Basingstoke And Dorchester Town was left off with a serious injury on Saturday.
Wes Fogden, 37, of Dorchester, went down in the 33rd minute under a challenge from a Basingstoke player, with unconfirmed reports on social media that he was caught with a knee to the head.
Fogden continued to receive treatment for the next six minutes before the game was suspended, with both players having to go down the tunnel.
Basingstoke said on their X account that the player was taken safely in an ambulance.
“Many thanks to Seanagh McCarthy (Basingstoke’s physio) for his knowledge and professionalism in helping to deal with the situation,” the club wrote.
“A nice moment when the Stoke fans came back to clap the player off the field.”
Dorchester said in full that a further update on the situation would be issued.
