F1 sells US TV rights to Apple in $140 million year deal
Apple gives US broadcast rights to F1 The five-year deal, which follows the success of F1: The Movie, will help the tech giant strengthen its streaming service with one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
Both parties did not disclose financial details of the deal on Friday. CNBC reported it was for $140 million per year, much more than the $90 million Walt Disney-owned ESPN is paying each season for F1, which it has broadcast since 2018.
Apple’s deal will start next year. iPhone maker to stream F1 on Apple TV, its critically acclaimed streaming service that won 22 Emmy awards this year, lacks the scale to compete with industry leaders like Netflix and Disney+ despite billions of dollars of investment.

Charles Leclerc, who passed 10th:
“I don’t regret much of what I did in my lap. It’s not enough, we’re too far behind now.”

Lewis Hamilton, who qualified eighth:
“It was definitely not the pace we were expecting.
“In practice it felt good, Q1 was quite good, then it started to get away from us. The car is very hard to drive, eight-tenths is a mountain to climb.”

George Russell, who qualified fifth:
“Could we have been on pole? Certainly not. Congratulations to Nico for P4, but today was not a good day. Sprint races are sometimes difficult.

Oscar Piastri, who took third place:
“A bit of a messy lap, hopefully tomorrow will be better.
“We’ll see what happens at the start, try and put ourselves in the right place, turning one here is difficult, we’ll see what happens next.”
