New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Friday expressed deep grief over the tragic bus fire in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, in which 11 people died. Both leaders described the incident as “extremely unfortunate” and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

Vice President Radhakrishnan also shared his condolences on Twitter, saying, “Deeply saddened by the tragic bus fire accident in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Expressing grief over the incident, Chandrababu Naidu said, “I am shocked to learn about the devastating bus fire accident near Chinna Tekur village in Kurnool district. My heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have lost their loved ones. Government officials will provide all possible assistance to the injured and the affected families.”
Former Andhra Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed his grief over the tragedy, calling it “deeply saddening”.
He said, “The news of the tragic bus fire accident near Chinna Tekur village in Kurnool district is extremely disturbing. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I urge the government to ensure all necessary assistance and medical aid to those affected and injured by this unfortunate incident.”
The horrific accident occurred near Chinnatekur in Kallur mandal of Kurnool district when a private Volvo bus caught fire, resulting in loss of a large number of lives. The bus was going from Bengaluru to Hyderabad when it caught fire after the accident.
According to initial reports, there were around 40 passengers on board the bus at the time of the incident. Twelve passengers reportedly managed to escape with minor injuries by storming the emergency exit, but the bus was completely destroyed in the fire.
As soon as the news was received, Andhra Pradesh State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramaprasad Reddy reached the spot. Expressing deep grief, he said, “It is truly heartbreaking to lose so many lives.”
He directed the officials to shift the injured to Kurnool hospital and ensure best possible medical care. The minister also directed the transport and rescue teams to carry out immediate relief and rescue operations at the accident site.
