Ex-user's Uber fare from Bengaluru airport to destination stuns the internet

The screenshot was taken after midnight when cab services usually charge night time charges.

Bengaluru is infamous for its traffic and hour-long traffic jams. People keep sharing about the traffic nightmare and low availability of public transport. Due to this, many people take private cabs and depend on cab aggregators like Ola and Uber. Recently, an X user who wanted to travel from the airport to Electronic City was shocked to see the prices of Uber cabs. User Rajesh Bhattad on the microblogging site shared a screenshot of Uber charging around Rs 2,000 for a trip from Kempegowda International Airport to the south-eastern suburb of Bengaluru.

“Uber pricing from Bengaluru airport to HSR fixed after midnight,” Mr Bhattad captioned the post. He thanked BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) for suggesting that he take a bus instead of a cab to reach home.

Take a look below:

Notably, the screenshot was taken after midnight when cab services usually charge night-time charges or activate surge pricing. It revealed that an Uber Go trip to their home would cost Rs 1,931, while it was Rs 1,846 for Uber Go Sedan and Uber Premier. Fare for Uber XL increased to Rs 2,495.

The price raised eyebrows on social media. One user suggested taking the Vayu Vajra bus to the HSR layout. On this Mr. Bhatt said, he has done so. “That’s what I took. Rs 265 per person. The only challenge is to get another Uber for last mile connectivity,” he said.

Many users also joined the conversation and agreed that app-based cab fares have become unreasonably high. One person also suggested that the fare would be reduced by 30 to 50% if the pickup location of the cab is outside the airport area.

“You can try simple hack to reduce Uber/OLA fares by around 30-50%. In the pick-up location – do not select the airport area (most travelers make this simple mistake). Instead walk a few miles And select pick-up just outside the airport boundaries,” the tweet read.

Meanwhile, last year, another screenshot showing the shocking fare of an Uber cab from the airport to Electronic City also went viral online. “The cost of the Uber cab fare from E-City to Bengaluru airport is dangerously close to the price I paid for a flight ticket.” He also shared a screenshot of Uber’s prices. Uber Premium was priced at Rs 2,584 for a distance of 52 km, while Uber XL was priced at Rs 4,051,’ the user wrote while sharing the screenshot.
