What is Northeast Easter?

Nor’easters or nor’easters are storms originating from the east coast of North America. These storms can occur at any time of the year, but nor’easters are more frequent and most violent between September and April.

Earlier in 2015, Boston also experienced a snowstorm between January and February. Before that, there was the superstorm in March 1993 and the New England Blizzard in February 1978. Records in the Northeast date back to 1888, when the region witnessed the infamous blizzard.

A report from the National Weather Service says past nor’easters have caused billions of dollars’ worth of property damage.

at the same time, PowerOutage.us websiteThe agency responsible for tracking power connections revealed that more than 40,000 homes in the Northeast were without power.

How were the Northeastern people formed?

Nor’easters typically develop at latitudes between Georgia and New Jersey, then push northeastward and reach maximum intensity near New England and the Canadian Maritimes. Nor’easters almost always result in heavy rain or snow, in addition to strong winds, rough seas and sometimes coastal flooding in affected areas.

according to National Weather ServiceIt was the East Coast of the United States that provided fertile soil for Northeasterners. In winter, cold Arctic air moves south across the plains of Canada and the United States, then moves toward the Atlantic where it encounters warm winds from the Gulf of Mexico. “The warm waters of the Gulf Stream help keep coastal waters relatively mild during the winter, which helps warm the cold winter air over the water,” the National Weather Service said on its website.

Then, the temperature difference between the warm air over the water and the cold Arctic air over the land provides food for the Northeastern birds.
