India’s star batsman Virat Kohli missed the entire five-match Test series against England after taking maternity leave. In February this year, he was blessed with a son. The star batsman will make his debut in the upcoming Indian Premier League, which starts on March 22. Kohli is yet to join the pre-match training camp of his team Royal Challengers Bangalore. While RCB had to start preparations without key players, former India player Mohammad Kaif backed Kohli for his solid performance after the break.

“Virat Kohli has been playing amazing cricket in the last one or two years; he has been in good form. I remember in the Asia Cup, he scored a century against Afghanistan Since then, he has not looked back. He has been in amazing form ever since and when a player like Virat Kohli is in form, he knows how to perform in every game mid-run; he was the player of the tournament during the World Cup as well. So I think he will continue this amazing form,” Kaif said on Star Sports show Game Plan.

“One of the special things about Virat Kohli is that every time he comes back from the break, he plays extremely well. Most players want to stay in touch and play regularly to stay in shape, but Virat Kohli He comes across as a more dangerous batsman every time he returns from the break. Yes, there is Green and Maxwell in the team, but Virat Kohli’s form will decide RCB’s chances in the playoffs Position. Virat Kohli’s form along with Maxwell and Green will be important for RCB to qualify for the playoffs,” he added.

It may take a few more days for Kohli to join before RCB begins their IPL campaign against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on March 22.

Most of the domestic players took part in the camp under the guidance of new head coach Andy Flower and director of cricket Mo Bobat, and completed training on the opening day of the camp on Wednesday.

While captain Faf du Plessis is in attendance along with West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, Kohli is undoubtedly the biggest ‘boxer’ in Indian cricket but is yet to reach his peak after paternity leave.
