Another abdication may be coming.

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg has confirmed that he plans to relinquish the throne to his eldest son and heir apparent, hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, in the near future.

In conversation with French publication freeIn an article published on Tuesday, the small European country’s head of state said it was “obviously” that he “intends to retire at some point.”

However, he declined to give an exact timeline for when he planned to make the big decision.

“All this was planned in consultation with the family,” he told the outlet. “I find it really important to give young people a perspective.”

“If there is a plan, it will happen,” Henry redoubled his eagerness to pass the throne to Guillaume at the right time.

As for whether he had chosen a date for his abdication, the Archduke affirmed: “Yes, but I won’t tell you!”

If the monarch decides to abdicate this year, he will become the second monarch to do so, after Queen Margrethe of Denmark, who passed the throne to her son, Crown Prince Frederik, in January.
