Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) added 15.92 lakh new members in November 2023, according to provisional payroll data released on Tuesday.

Nearly 20,830 new establishments were registered in November and brought under the social security umbrella of ESIC, ensuring greater coverage, the labor ministry said in a statement.

The data shows that more jobs were created for youth during the month as 7.47 lakh of the total 15.92 lakh workers added, which was 47 per cent of the total registrations, were in the age group of up to 25 years.

According to the data, the net enrollment of women members in November 2023 was 3.17 lakh.

A total of 58 transgender employees were registered under the ESI scheme in November.

This shows that ESIC is committed to extending its benefits to every section of the society, the ministry said.

Payroll data is provisional as data generation is an ongoing exercise.
